Personal information is information that can be used to identify you. This includes information such as your name, postal or IP address (if not anonymized), telephone number, and e-mail address, but not information that is not associated with your identity (such as anonymous log files in which the used browser types are logged).
Data provided by you (e.g., data input via a web form) can be or contain personal data. We store your data only at your request and to the extent needed (for example, for registration for an event) or for data backup. The specific use of such data is indicated in the respective context.
3. Viewing the website www.kfg-intlaw.de
When you view the web pages of the above-named website or one of its subdomains, a log file is automatically created and stored on the server. Such files contain the web page you visited, the previous website you visited just before ours (in case it was a search engine, also the terms entered), date, time, the operating system you are using, features of the display (resolution in pixels and the so-called pixel-ratio for the detection of high-resolution displays), and the browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, etc.). Additionally, the size of the transferred data amount, a so-called HTTP status code (for example to identify a successfully transmitted web page), and the IP address of your computer (e.g., PC or smartphone) – whereby the IP address is immediately anonymized through deletion of the last octet of the address – are also stored.
In order to establish and maintain the connection for the mere informational use of the website, only those server log files transmitted by your browser to us are automatically collected and stored. The above-mentioned data, whose processing is technically necessary for the presentation and IT security of the website, are collected when the website is viewed. The listed personal data is also stored in the log files of the server. These stored data will not be merged with any other data you may provide.
The legal basis for the temporary storage of personal data and log files is Art. 6(1) c) GDPR, § 13(7) TMG. The temporary storage of the data in log files is necessary in order to guarantee the permanent operability of the information technology systems and the technology of the website as well as the security of the IT. It is also necessary to ensure the correct display of the website.
Stored log files will be deleted after 30 days at the latest, unless there is a legal obligation to retain them.
4. Who collects the information?
The information processed as explained above (see points 1 and 2) is electronically collected and used by the Berlin Potsdam Research Group “The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?” and stored by 1&1 IONOS: Hostingplattform für E-Commerce / Websites; service provider: 1&1 IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Deutschland.
